Dr. Jordan Hoppes, PsyD
Jordan Hoppes, PsyD completed his doctoral training in clinical and school psychology at Roberts Wesleyan University in 2023. He then completed his postdoctoral training at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. While there he was a fellow at Harvard Medical School and had access to some of the nation's best supervision and training in psychodynamic psychotherapy through CHA's Program for Psychotherapy. He attained licensure as a psychologist in both New York State and Massachusetts, and maintains a private practice serving patients in both New York State and Massachusetts. He continues to deepen his expertise in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapies by engaging in a psychoanalytic training program for licensed mental health professionals through the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute.
Dr. Hoppes firmly believes that life is often very difficult, and most everyone has had to come up with creative solutions to get through their day-to-day. Unfortunately, it is often these solutions that make us feel psychologically unwell. By getting to know ourselves better, and feeling more comfortable with ourselves, we become psychologically "freed up" to find different solutions to the struggles of everyday life. As people feel more psychologically "freed up," and as they get to know themselves better, they tend to feel less distressed overall
Dr. Hoppes' therapeutic approach involves empathetically exploring the patient's experiences and helping them to build a new, more comprehensive narrative of their own lives. He also works to help the patient to feel comfortable enough to embrace the parts of themselves they are uncomfortable with, letting go of some of the painful defenses they have relied on throughout their lives.
Dr. Hoppes primarily engages in lengthy psychotherapies intended to generate real, lasting change that will ideally reduce symptoms for life. An ideal outcome of such a long-term therapy would be the patient having a new, positive narrative-of-self as well as a new ability to tolerate and accept the broad range of human experiences and emotions without blaming, abusing, or pathologizing themselves.
Dr. Hoppes provides Telehealth psychotherapy. He is not currently working in-person. He is currently in-network with Aetna plans in New York State and Massachusetts. He also provides out-of-pocket psychotherapy hours that are billed at a rate of $200 per session. This fee can be negotiated (and renegotiated) based on financial concerns or with increased frequency of sessions. He also provides superbills so that patients can take advantage of any out of network benefits they may be entitled to.
